PHOTOGRAPHER/ARTIST RESEARCH.
On this page I have presented a variety of artists and photographers whom I have research and used as inspiration to build upon my knowledge of the theme 'Flaws, Perfection, Ideals and Compromises'. I have taken these artists from the A2 photography exam booklet guidance and from my own research and knowledge of the theme.
MARTIN PARR
Martin Parr is a British photographer/ and photojournalist, well known for his photographic projects that take an intimate, satirical and anthropological look at aspects of modern life e.g. documenting social classes of England and the wealth of Western Communities. His most famous projects include: 'Rural Communities' 1975-1982, 'The Last Resort' 1983-1985, 'The Cost of Living' 1987-1989, 'Small World' 1987-1994 and 'Common Sense' 1995-1999. Key aspects from his work include high saturation. Parr's photography projects link to my chosen theme by portraying how Britons aim for perfection, however succumb to flaws, but also how key aspects of British life represent the ideals of Britain. |

ALINA SZAPOCZNIKOW

Alina survived through the terrorizing ordeals of both Auschwitz and the Lodz Ghettos. After the Holocaust, Alina chose to create sculptures of human bodies and features such as breasts, stomachs and legs, working in mainly bronze and stone. Such technical innovation allowed her to immortalize a personal language informed by her exposure to death in childhood, traumatic memories of the Holocaust, as well as witnessing the premature collapse of her own body due to tuberculosis. |
